1. How to add a list from a URL

Q: What is a .w3u list?

It is a file format used to store multimedia playlists, based on json. || Json is the acronym for JavaScript Object Notation, a lightweight text format for data exchange. A subset of the literal notation of JavaScript objects although today, due to its wide adoption as an alternative to xml, it is considered a separate language format. <h1 id="whyisitcreated">Why is it created?</h1> ** w3u ** was born as an improvement of the m3u format, adding more advanced functionalities and facilitating the use of new features in multimedia players, such as the possibility of synchronizing a list hosted on a remote server or the inclusion of additional information by the author on the list. || M3U (MPEG Version 3.0 URL) is a file format that stores media playlists. Initially, the possibility of creating and opening M3Us was only supported by Winamp, but currently the format is supported by multiple players: AIMP, foobar2000, iTunes, JuK, VLC, Windows Media Player, Wiseplay and XMMS among others. <h1 id="whatdoyouuseitfor">What do you use it for?</h1> The main use of the ** w3u ** lists is to gather in a single file different audio, video and streaming links, for personal use or to be shared with other users in a simple way. Q: Can you provide me with lists?

No. Our apps allows you to load them and play multimedia content, but we do not create nor distribute any content.

To add a list using a URL, first you must make sure it is a valid list and it is active in the server.

Then click on the (+) button.

Once we click on the button Add Lists, two options will appear, as we want to import a list from a URL we choose the first.

Then, introduce the address of the list, as the window indicates, Wiseplay in compatible with w3u or m3u lists.

If you have previously copied the list just click on the Paste option and the hit OK. You can also copy the list manually.

Your list will be successfully loaded on the app.

How to Cast from Wiseplay to your Smart TV without Chromecast

Our apps no longer offer DLNA support. In the Android versions you can cast content through Chromecast.

Why doesn’t Wiseplay work correctly with Chromecast?

When casting content from your Android device to your Chromecast you may have some problems that may make the experience not so pleasant. This is why we would like to explain how this system works so you know it better, and understand its complexity.

Supported Formats

Chromecast supports just the following multimedia formats AAC, MP3, MP4, WAV, WebM and the codecs H.264 and VP8 (according to the official site), any other format is not supported by this Google device. Initially, most of the videos and lists that can be played in Wiseplay are not compatible with Chromecast and that is why Wiseplay makes an internal process to make this happen, this process is called “Transcoding”.

Transcoding

If you play a video using Wiseplay, that is not compatible with Chromecast, you can cast it anyway, the app will initiate a process called transcoding, in other words, it will convert the video to a format supported by Chromecast in real time and send it via Wi-Fi. As you can imagine, this process requires many resources and not all mobile devices are capable of doing it with the same quality. This process gets even more complicated if the video we are trying to play is streaming live and a it is a high quality video, also, if it loses signal it may have cuts when playing. In conclusion, to have a good quality in your videos when you play them using the “transcoder”, you must consider the following:

Who can make and distribute .w3u lists?

The list formats compatible with our apps are **.w3u ** and **.m3u **, a standard format of playlists that can be created by anyone with a simple ** Notepad **.
